New 5ftx20x20

PostAuthor: Malawi MaD » Tue Jan 03, 2012 00:32

Just bought a 5x20x20 yesterday from a friend of mine, it currently has 4 oscars in there but im going to let them go to a bigger home as my tank just isn't big enough for them. They are beautiful fish i've spent hours watching them but its best if they have 6ft+ set-up. I've already got attached to them its crazy but im thinking of a amazon themed set-up as i have that huge piece of bogwood (as you can see from the pic) that's going to look amazing with the right plants and few small rocks with a nice sand bottom. So Im thinking of a nice group Geophagus red head tapajos, a couple of red severums maybe a pair and a nice shoal of bleeding heart tetra's. The pic is just a quick look (mainly the bogwood) it looks pretty cra ppy at the moment but its just the temporary home for the Oscars until i can move them on. Really looking forward to setting this up though, especially the wood its amazing.

I know Ray its a beautiful piece, especially the other side has little crevasses all the way along will look good with the right plant's. They are lovely fish, have quite a character to. I don't want to pass them on but its not fair on them been in this size tank. I will have some again at some point because i find them so relaxing to watch been watching these more than the malawi's.

Not really into that chunk of bogwood i more twisted/root types i think it hogs the tank to much.
But i like the idea of your stocking seen plenty of wild bleeding hearts on my travels.Geos are one of my fav fish they look great in a small
group.Plant wise go for hairgrass and hornwort both quite easy to grow ;)
Great oscars but i agree they need a bigger aquarium.

It does look numb with how its set-up atm but ill upload pics as i start to add plants and make the bogwood more of a feature than it just plonked in the middle of the tank. The other side does look alot better too.Yeah hairgrass is what ive looking at. I want to get some moss growing on the wood to, to make it blend in a little more.
