1 - Bulging Eye

PostAuthor: Nads » Sun Feb 17, 2008 10:45

A bulging or protruding eye is generally referred to as Popeye and can affect one or both eyes.

Popeye is caused by a build up of fluid in or behind the eye and is a sympton of underlying problems that need to be treated.

Most cases of popeye are a sympton of poor water quality and the water parameters should be checked before any further treatment is undertaken. An improvement in water quality will generally see fast improvement in the effected eye(s).

Popeye can also be a symptom of bacterial infection, in which case a bacterial medication should be used. These can normally be purchased from your local fish store.
