I'm having a small granite patio laid at the mo, might as well take out a second morgage
They look a lot easy to stack, I'd never be able to safely get my boulders as high.

How do the Callianos and Estherae get on together?.......I currently have both these fish but they are in separate tanks.
Do the males get on (if you have any, you didn't give ratios) do you worry about them cross breeding?

Jules

they get on fine. i did worry about cross breeding but the 2x estherae were what i took off the lfs because someone had just left them there as they didn't want them anymore. i figured that they would be better off with me than in some tropical community aquarium where they prob would have ended up! there is no signs of interaction but if there were the fry wouldn't survive as i just leave them in the tank. not the best idea i know but better than what they could have ended up with me thinks.

current doesn't stress them at all. it isn't a swirling torrent just a mild one that keeps poo on the move. it also keeps the fish active and healthy as i found when they were turned off the fish just stay still alot more. i don't turn them completely off at night, i just run the one through the night. thanks for all the comments guys. :D

Nice set up I realy like it!
Just have question for you! If you turn one of the filters off at nite to lessen the current what happens to the good bacteria in that cannister if there is no water moving over it? Does it die off? Thanks Splash

As far as i know the malawis love the current in the water, as the lake that they come from is more like the sea than the average lake, and the water inlake malawi is supposed to be quite rough as per info in ( LAKE MALAWI CICHLIDS BY Peter Bredell ) :)

Well done, sir!! I have 1/3 the rock as you, though get mine for free from the causeways bridging our Indian River Lagoon!! I used 2 cinderblocks under each corner of the tank for support and then strengthened with 2x4's. Oh, laid 3 2x10's across the blocks and topped them with 3/4 inch plywood.
